How can I get Builders Workers’ Compensation or General liability insurance for my company?
Builders Insurance policies are available through our independent agents. Please note: if you are a homebuilder in Georgia, you must belong to an approved Association Membership organization to obtain coverage.
Do I have to be a homebuilder to get Builders coverage?
Builders insures a variety of non-construction businesses, including retail, wholesale, services, professional practices and light manufacturing operations. However, we currently do not offer non-construction Workers’ Compensation coverage in all states.
What injuries should I report to my insurance company?
Any injury to an employee or uninsured subcontractor’s employee that may require outside medical attention from a medical professional should be reported. You should also report any injury for which you receive written notice from the injured worker, from an attorney or from a state workers’ compensation board.
Who do I contact if I have questions or if I need to make changes to my existing Workers’ Compensation and/or General Liability policy?
If you have questions regarding your Builders policies, including any changes you may need to make, please contact your insurance agent. Any questions concerning certificates of insurance, officer exclusions, waivers of subrogation and policy endorsements should also be directed to your insurance agent. Builders cannot accept these requests directly from a policyholder
What is an Experience Modifier? How does it affect my premium?
The Experience Modifier is a rating factor based on the loss experience of your company compared with others in the industry. A factor of 1.00 means that you are average. An experience modification factor of more than 1.00 (1.15, for example) means that your loss history is higher or worse than average; while .85 means that your loss history is lower or better than average. This factor is used as a multiplier for your insurance rate. This means you will pay less if your claim history is better than average, but more if your claim history is worse than average. This factor is created by the National Committee for Compensation Insurance (NCCI) and is provided to all carriers to use in workers’ compensation insurance premium calculation.
I just received an audit bill. What is an audit?
Payments for Workers’ Compensation policies are based on estimates of your payroll. So audits are required in order to bill you the correct amount. At the end of a policy period, Builders conducts an audit to determine your actual payroll. If your actual payroll is less than the estimated payroll, you will receive a refund. If your actual payroll is higher, you will receive a bill for additional premium.
I don’t agree with my audit. How do I dispute it?
If you wish to dispute your audit, please visit the audit inquiries page for complete instructions.
How can I take advantage of your Monthly Self Reporting (MSR) pay plan?
MSR Plans are available to most businesses. These plans require a deposit and a monthly payroll report submitted by the 10th of each month. For more details, please contact your independent insurance agent.
